257 Hot Tamale aka 25 7mmSTW Long Range Hunting Forum

Feb 3 2010 For me the 25 06 AI makes more sense It is fast and wildcat cool but still has reasonable efficiancy Below are sample loads for each to show my reasoning These are all shot with 26 barrels I am showing the 25 06 as a baseline 25 06 Rem 100gr 56gr RL22 3300 FPS 1 1 Based on my own load data Comparable data on Reloadersnest RN

Jan 5 2013 The 25 STW is a necked down 7mm STW which in turn is a necked down 8mm Rem Mag You will almost certainly have to form brass yourself and it will be a tricky thing coming up with anything more than starting points on load data

Feb 17 2007 Lane Simpson spawned the 25 STW and reported that he liked it but has since gravitated to his 6 5 STW Seems to me that the 257 Weatherby is a sane upper limit of case capacity for the 25 cal I think Simpson was getting 200 300 fps more from the STW 25

25 STW AKA 25 Hot Tamale Predator Masters

Jul 8 2009 If you were going to use the heaviest 25 caliber bullets for long range shooting the STW would give you a little advantage The 257 wby is not bad without a brake The STW has more recoil

Stw 25

Dec 15 2007 The 257 stw is a truly high performance cartridge if you take long time long range hunters advice it would last for many seasons I also agree w varminator about the efficient 7mm bore and better bc than the 257 bullets

Sep 4 2004 How about a 25 SAUM Neck down the 7mm SAUM to 25 The 25 SAUM is no doubt a good round as is the 25 WSM but these are best suited for short action rifles While both can get impressive results with VLD style bullets neither will come even close to the brute horsepower of the STW or Banshee
